Why do I need to know my risks?

 

Your wellness profile - knowing your health risksMedical research has found that certain good health practices are associated with longevity.  Did you ever wish you could take a snapshot of your current health situation, so that you know exactly where you stand as far as your overall health risks?

Healthy U's health risk appraisal (also known as a "health risk assessment" or "HRA") is a scientific tool used to determine your risk of future health problems - in other words, your Wellness Profile.

Widely used for over thirty years, health risk appraisals can give you detailed information regarding your current health, and your future risks depending on the lifestyle choices you make today.  Your Wellness Profile makes you aware of the lifestyle practices that will determine the future of your health and your personal well-being.  Health risk appraisals have long been used by employers to help identify the health risks of their employee population - and now, you can easily get your own Wellness Profile at Healthy U.

To obtain your Wellness Profile, you'll complete a questionnaire covering the categories of coronary risk, cancer risk, nutrition, fitness, stress, substance use, and safety habits.  Your current health habits are then compared to what scientific research has determined to be good health practices, and are rated on a wellness scale.  Based on your responses, you receive an individual rating in each category indicating whether you are doing well, or if you are in need of improvement.

Your Wellness Profile is a six-page health risk assessment report, outlining your strengths and weaknesses.  It will include recommendations for improving your health, based on the latest medical and health research, as well as guidelines from leading health organizations.  The recommendations are tailored to your personal needs.

The choices we make each day - what to eat, whether we exercise, if we should light up that cigarette - have a profound effect on both our lifespan and our quality of life.  Your Wellness Profile can help you identify your unique health risks, identify where you're doing well, and offer suggestions for how to improve your lifestyle.  By following the recommendations in your Wellness Profile, you can change the future of your health.
